Dear GCFS blog readers,
Paris Fashion Week happened this week, making our committee determined to get there as fast as possible! Between January 12th - 25th, we had a group fundraising challenge to see which GCFS team could get from Glasgow to Paris - an impressive distance of 558 miles - the fastest. In total, 650 miles were trekked, with our models, sponsorship and charity teams being in the lead.
Many of our teams went about this in fun and creative ways. For instance, the charity team completed the Glasgow Ice Cream tour, running en route to local ice cream shops such as Nowita and Minted. Not only did they get a great workout in and collect stamps in their ice cream passports, but raised money for Young Lives vs. Cancer while doing so!
A special shoutout to our top contestant, Kiendi, as well as runners-up Seana and Liza, for having the most miles! Kiendi ran the distance between Marion’s House in Glasgow to Ciaran’s House in Edinburgh with fellow GCFS member Conor, raising £270 for Young Lives vs. Cancer. He’ll be receiving a well-deserved bottle of fizz and a free ticket to our upcoming Club Studio event!
As it is Paris Fashion Week, here are a few of my favourite haute couture looks from the week:
Chanel - I love this blush pink look with the classic Chanel jacket and slip skirt: so chic yet sexy with the sheer purple tights. Not to mention, the enchanted forest-like runway added such a playful touch to the show.
Valentino - The dress over trousers look continues to serve: I love its lime green colour and the ruffle details. The open toed heels with floor length trousers is very fun (although I’m not sure it’s the way to go during a Glaswegian spring)...
Dior - Their ‘In Bloom’ collection had such fun silhouettes, very reminiscent of Mackenize Jenning’s looks featured in our intro shoot! I love the bubble shape of this neon orange dress, as well as the lovely colour contrast with the lilac flower.
