In Conversation with PVC: Music and Fashion in Synergy

Dear GCFS blog readers,

Happy Monday! Last Thursday, Hill52 Radio and us co-hosted a fantastic music fundraiser at our sponsor venue Nice n’ Sleazy’s, our headliners including local artists such as The Sabbats, Bogle, Hangnail and PVC. I had the pleasure to chat to PVC, an alternative Glasgow-based band (self-described as making ‘music for window cleaners’) about all things music, fashion and their longstanding connection to GCFS.

I’m so excited for your gig tonight! Can you tell us a bit about your band and how you came to be?

Thank you! We met while studying at Glasgow uni and played our first gig two years ago. Coincidentally, one of our first gigs was for the GCFS ‘Dreams’ campaign back in 2024, when we also played at Sleazy’s to raise money for Impact Arts. It’s amazing to be doing the same thing for Young Lives vs. Cancer tonight!

Our 2026 show theme is ‘Synergy’, which is all about the ways we are interconnected in Glasgow. In what ways do you think Glasgow’s fashion and music scene are in synergy?

What we love about Glasgow is that everyone in the creative scene supports each other: wearing each other’s merch is a great example of this. The music and fashion scene feel mismatched in the best way possible: think skirts over jeans paired with oversized leather jackets. A couple of us actually work at the Charity Supermarket in the Buchanan Galleries, so we love getting regular discounts on second-hand pieces. Both music and fashion are fun ways to express yourself, which is at the core of our band’s purpose!

What are some of your favourite fashion pieces or aesthetics at the moment?

‘Tartan is a classic.’ - Cara, lead singer (in true Burns Night spirit)

‘All things fluffy.’ - Sophia, guitarist (wearing a gorgeous white fur coat)

‘The old man look.’ - Zach, drummer (his sleeveless jumper says enough)

Who are some of your current music inspirations?

‘Girl punk, always.’ - Cara

‘Chill and instrumental sounds.’ - Sophia

‘All of the headliners for HOUSEGUEST in April!’ - Zach

Any future plans or upcoming gigs you’d like to share?

Yes! We recorded a new single last week, which we can’t say too much about yet but can’t wait for its release. We’re also playing at the HOUSEGUEST festival in April, along with so many of our favourite bands including Meryl Streek and Bikini Body. It’s an exciting time for us to say the least!

Thank you so much to PVC for chatting with me and for their incredible gig! They may have been the last band to perform, but they certainly left their mark on the audience. The event was a sell-out, with all proceeds going to Young Lives vs. Cancer: let music and fashion serve as reminders that we are all in synergy.
