Have you got what it takes to get as far away from Glasgow as possible in 36 hours? Want to raise money for an amazing charity?
Join Glasgow’s first charity hitchhike event this October in teams of 2 or 3 without spending ANY money on transport. We spoke to GUCFS Secretary, Raphaella, who told us about it all! So, what is GUCFS Jailbreak? RAPHAELLA: GUCFS Jailbreak is a new fundraising initiative Glasgow University Charity Fashion Show are launching this Autumn. Teams have 36 hours to get as far away from Glasgow as possible, but without actually spending any money on transport themselves. How they do travel is completely up to them - they can hitchhike or ask strangers for help, the possibilities are endless!
How did you come up with the idea? RAPHAELLA: Loads of other universities have organised similar events, and i’ve always thought it was such a cool & exciting thing. The idea was brought up at one of our Committee Meetings and everybody loved it - so we thought we’d give it a go!
What is it all in aid of? RAPHAELLA: Jailbreak will be solely in aid of the Glasgow University Charity Fashion Show Charitable Partner for the coming year. We’re really excited to be working with such a fab charity and can’t wait to release who they are & what they do during Freshers Week!
Who can take part? RAPHAELLA: Absolutely anyone! If you’re keen to go on a mini-adventure & escape Glasgow for a bit whilst raising money for an amazing charity - this is your chance!
What are you most excited about? RAPHAELLA: I can’t wait to see all the creative & different ways teams manage to get around. It would be absolutely incredible if some people managed to get really really far away. I know people from other universities have managed to get as far as Australia!
