Since 2014, GUCFS has raised over £30,000 for various charities. This tremendous achievement is not down to just our committed members but to you, The University of Glasgow students. Through supporting us, you are donating money to some very worthwhile charities.
In less than four years, you have donated to various charities, you have reduced the stigma surrounding mental health and you are currently raising money to support the patients of Glasgow Royal Children’s Hospital. There may be 75 of us doing the work and being behind the scenes, but it is you, the supporters of GUCFS who have raised tens of thousands of pounds for charity and who will continue to do so.
This year, we will all be raising money for Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity. A charity that was nominated by you, the students of GU, to be our charitable partners for 2017-2018. Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity works to enhance the medical care for its patients and decrease the financial burden to the families of these patients. It is located in the centre of Glasgow and I would encourage you all to look at their website and see the amazing work they do.
So far this year, society members have done skydives, bucket collections, 5km runs and much, much more - all of which you have sponsored. This year, we launched our first ever Jailbreak and it was you guys who travelled as far as the Canary Islands and it was you guys who raised over £3,000.
By liking our Facebook and following our Instagram, you allow us to approach sponsors and raise even more for charity. By attending our events and paying for tickets, you allow us to donate all profits to charity. By buying that polaroid off of us in HIVE, you are donating to Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity. By even reading this article, you are raising the awareness of Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity.
It may be us, the large and diverse group of Glasgow University students, from all different courses, backgrounds and cultures who organise and plan our events. But it is you, the University of Glasgow students, who have ultimately donated over £30,000 to charity.
So, from myself and from everyone who has ever been involved in GUCFS and from all of our charitable partners, I would like to thank you for your continued support.
