Throughout the summer our team had been hard at work raising money for the Glasgow Children's Hospital Charity. There has been such a wide variety of crazy and exciting activities already that its hard to keep up! Here is what we have been up to so far but keep your eyes peeled for more fundraising activities throughout the year.
20p Smarties Tube Challenge
Over the summer our committee had been set the challenge of filling up a large tube of smarties with as many 20p as they possibly could and it's been a massive success. Everyone's tubes were full and no one seemed too fussed about having to eat another tube of smarties to make room for more coins.
Not for the faint hearted our Creative Director Anne has been working hard this summer, raising as much money as possible. Taking to the sky Anne took on the challenge of paragliding over Col De La Forclaz in Annecy - You go Gal!
The Sponsored 10k Walk
An event organised by the charity was the sponsored walk in august which a group of the committee took part in. Beth, Iona, Chloe and Anna all walked their way around glasgow sporting purple Glasgow Children's Hospital Charity tops along with Lara from the charity. The day was a great success!
Creative craft day at The Children's Hospital
A rewarding activity carried out by some of the girls on committee this year was a craft event organised at the hospital. Three stations were set up in order for the children to get creative. All the children loved it and didn't mind getting themselves (and us) covered in paint!
Collection Tins all around the West End
It may be simple but it is effective. Over the summer Beth has been active going around the West End, placing collection tins here there and everywhere. From coffee shops to burger vans our little purple tins got around and raised a whole lot of money too. Keep an eye out for them!
Taking our inspiration from the new series of the Great British Bake off (anyone else happy too see Paul Hollywood back on our screens once a week?) everyone baked up something that would make Mary Berry proud to sell outside the Fraser building. From fairy cakes to vegan cookies there was something for everyone!
Christmas Shoebox Appeal
Committee and Brand Ambassadors attended the charity headquarters in Glasgow to lend a hand in the packing and sending of their Christmas orders. These were for their loyal charity supporters, old and new, from online orders and hand written orders. The sessions were a great success and allowed us to see first hand some more of the imperative work that the charity does and where some of our fundraising efforts will go.
Buchanan Street Collection Buckets
We decided to take full advantage of the student night at Buchanan Galleries by heading there armed with our collection buckets. We took to both students and shop works alike to raise awareness for both the charity and fashion show.
Iona Walks the West Highland Way
Our girls really are unstoppable! Over the summer Iona and a friend set themselves the challenge of walking half of the West Highland way in just 4 days. It couldn't have been easy but both girls smashed their fundraising target a completed the walk!
We couldn't be prouder of all the effort and creativity that has been put in by all of our committee members and BA’s over the summer and the first few weeks of term. There are still many more crazy fundraising activities to come and we are grateful for all the support that everyone has shown.
